A former executive of the Web3 game Blade of God X (BOGX) has accused the project of abandoning its blockchain-driven roadmap after securing funding through the cryptocurrency space.
On April 1, Amber Bella, BOGX's former Chief Marketing Officer, posted on X, claiming that, despite the game being funded by Web3 sources, it "completely abandoned" its Web3 objectives and the team dedicated to its blockchain features.
“Web3 was entirely forsaken, and my Web3 team’s salaries went from being delayed to unpaid entirely,” Bella stated.
She also claimed that instead of reimbursing users or refunding NFTs purchased by buyers, the game's founder, Tnise Liu Yang, blocked her from all personal communication channels.
Bella further alleged that she tried to persuade Yang to properly liquidate the game’s Web3 assets, but Yang blocked all forms of communication. She wrote in the X thread:
“When I asked Tnise to refund all sold NFTs and address the Web3 community, including returning in-game purchases made by Web3 players during the third test phase, I found out I was blocked from every communication channel without any warning.”
Bella said this occurred when she suggested they responsibly handle the Web3 aspect if the game were to transition fully to a Web2 model.
Additionally, the former executive accused the Web2 team of claiming rewards meant for players. She explained that while the Web3 team focused on enhancing player benefits, they discovered that the Web2 team had been using their own accounts to claim cash prizes intended for players.
“They kept this hidden from the Web3 team and initially denied it when confronted. Only when we provided proof linking the accounts to their own wallets did they remove these accounts,” Bella added.
