This role requires an in-depth understanding of Snowflake’s architecture, administration, and performance tuning to ensure a highly efficient, secure, and scalable data environment. The ideal candidate should have a strong command over Azure services, data security best practices, and automation for streamlined operations.

As a Snowflake Administrator, you will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing our Snowflake environment, ensuring smooth data workflows, and enforcing compliance standards. Your role will involve working closely with Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Cloud Architects to manage and enhance data platforms while maintaining high availability and performance.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, data-driven environment where you can leverage your technical expertise to drive innovation, streamline operations, and enhance data governance practices.

Key Responsibilities

Snowflake Administration & Configuration

  • Set up, configure, and maintain Snowflake on Azure, ensuring seamless integration with Azure services like Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Monitor and optimize Snowflake virtual warehouses, managing compute resources effectively to maintain cost efficiency.
  • Implement storage optimization techniques and ensure efficient data partitioning and clustering.

Performance Tuning & Optimization

  • Perform query performance tuning and optimize Snowflake workloads for high-speed data processing.
  • Troubleshoot latency issues, bottlenecks, and slow-running queries, ensuring maximum efficiency.
  • Implement best practices for indexing, caching, and auto-scaling to improve query execution times.

Data Security & Access Control

  • Manage role-based access controls (RBAC), permissions, and security policies to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Implement data encryption, masking, and governance to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Monitor and enforce audit logging, access tracking, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline repetitive administrative tasks.
  • Create and manage automated workflows for backup, data loading, and pipeline monitoring.
  • Enhance operational efficiency through automated alerting and performance monitoring.

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Implement data governance frameworks to ensure data consistency, lineage tracking, and cataloging.
  • Work with Data Stewards and Compliance teams to maintain adherence to GDPR, HIPAA, and other industry regulations.
  • Define and enforce metadata management and data classification policies.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Cloud Architects to design scalable and resilient Snowflake solutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, performance metrics, and best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to data teams on Snowflake optimization techniques.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 4+ years of experience as a Snowflake Administrator, preferably on Azure.
  • Strong expertise in Snowflake architecture, including.

    • Virtual warehouses, multi-cluster architectures, and storage optimization.

    • Databases, schemas, and table management.

    • Snowflake’s compute and storage cost management.
