As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying state-of-the-art AI/ML solutions. You will contribute to the next generation of AI/ML and Generative AI technologies, enabling Visa to remain a leader in AI-powered financial services. This role involves end-to-end development, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring that AI systems are scalable, efficient, and aligned with Visa’s strategic objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and product managers, to deliver high-quality AI-powered solutions that drive business growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance machine learning applications to solve complex business challenges and enhance product functionality.
- Design and implement machine learning pipelines, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
- Write clean, efficient, and testable code using programming languages such as Java, Python, Rust, JavaScript, or Scala.
- Lead end-to-end development efforts, ensuring timely delivery of solutions that meet business and technical requirements while adhering to industry best practices.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and senior technical staff to identify risks, create contingency plans, and track progress effectively.
- Present technical concepts, solutions, and features to non-technical stakeholders in clear and business-friendly terms.
- Communicate project status, potential risks, and technical challenges proactively, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with strategic goals.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with 2+ years of relevant experience OR 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, AI, or ML development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong programming skills in at least one of the following languages Java, Python, Scala, or Go.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
- Experience in developing and supporting AI/ML-powered systems, with a strong grasp of machine learning techniques and frameworks.
- Hands-on experience in building scalable and reliable data solutions, including data preprocessing, feature extraction, model training, and deployment.
- Familiarity with the ML lifecycle, including model evaluation, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with data scientists and engineering teams to integrate AI models into production environments.
- Exposure to open-source ML ecosystems such as MLflow, Cortex, Seldon, Kubeflow, and TensorFlow Extended (TFX) is a plus.
- Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks, such as Angular, for developing Single Page Applications (SPA) is advantageous.
- Experience in RESTful APIs, gRPC, and web service architectures.
- Hands-on experience with databases, including MySQL and NoSQL (e.g., Cassandra), particularly in data modeling, performance tuning, and cluster management.
- Published work in academic journals or presentations at AI/ML conferences is a plus.
- Prior experience in the payments or financial industry is an added advantage.
