Senior Machine Learning Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the AI Hyperscale Platform team. This role focuses on developing new model validation capabilities, conducting load testing, and implementing chaos engineering to enhance system reliability and high availability. You will play a critical role in shaping the AI ecosystem at Visa, ensuring that our models perform optimally in real-world scenarios.

This position is ideal for someone with strong development expertise, a passion for AI and big data technologies, and a drive to create enterprise-level solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to a robust and scalable AI-as-a-Service ecosystem, and enhance the overall development process.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, and Project Managers to design and implement data-driven solutions.
• Drive the end-to-end development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software that aligns with business requirements and architectural guidelines.

• Work across multiple phases of solution development, including.

  • Design & Planning. Identify technical solutions, evaluate risks, and plan contingencies.

  • Development. Write clean, efficient, and scalable code for AI models and services.

  • Testing & Validation. Conduct rigorous load testing and implement chaos engineering techniques to ensure reliability.

  • Deployment & Optimization. Ensure smooth deployment and continuous improvement of AI services.

• Lead technical discussions and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, presenting technical solutions in a way that aligns with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in machine learning, big data, and distributed systems.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 2+ years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (Master’s, MBA, JD, MD, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• 3-5 years of experience in software engineering, particularly in AI, machine learning, or big data technologies.
• Expertise in Kafka, Spark, Kubernetes (K8s), and backend development.
• Hands-on experience with at least one programming language, Golang, Java, or C/C++.
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts, including model validation and AI governance.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, low-latency computing, and high-availability architectures.
• Experience working with web service standards such as REST and gRPC.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize performance in large-scale AI and big data applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and innovate in complex environments.
• Excellent communication skills to present technical solutions and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
