Job Description

As a Senior Azure DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, automation, and management of cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines on Azure. With 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure management, you will be responsible for maintaining and evolving our Azure-based environments, specifically focused on AKS and Terraform. This role requires a strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, security, and automation to deliver efficient solutions and streamline infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Implement Azure DevOps Pipelines

  • Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, ensuring seamless and reliable deployment of applications to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Enhance pipeline workflows by integrating testing, security scanning, and deployment automation to achieve efficient release cycles and high-quality deployments.

Manage AKS Clusters

  • Architect, implement, and manage highly available AKS clusters to ensure robust application performance in production environments.
  • Ensure that clusters are compliant with industry security standards and regulatory requirements, utilizing best practices for AKS management.

Implement Terraform for Infrastructure as Code

  • Use Terraform to provision and manage cloud infrastructure resources in Azure, such as virtual networks, storage accounts, subnets, and other essential components.
  • Continuously improve infrastructure code to maintain infrastructure scalability, security, and reliability across various environments.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams

  • Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth deployment and continuous improvement in application delivery within AKS.
  • Provide support and guidance for teams to address infrastructure challenges and improve operational efficiency.

Infrastructure Automation

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Azure CLI, PowerShell, or other relevant tools to automate routine infrastructure tasks, such as configuration management and environment provisioning.
  • Automate operational workflows to reduce manual interventions, improve reliability, and optimize the deployment lifecycle.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution

  • Proactively monitor infrastructure performance and troubleshoot complex issues, such as cluster connectivity problems, resource allocation errors, and Terraform configuration discrepancies.
  • Act as the first line of defense in diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues swiftly to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.

Continuous Learning and Knowledge Sharing

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Azure DevOps, AKS, Terraform, and other cloud-related technologies to ensure the team remains competitive.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team by offering insights into industry trends, best practices, and technical solutions.

Documentation and Knowledge Base Creation

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all infrastructure configurations, deployment processes, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Ensure that all infrastructure processes and guidelines are well-documented and easily accessible to facilitate effective team collaboration and onboarding.

On-Call Rotation

  • Participate in the on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for infrastructure-related incidents and ensure that cloud-based systems remain operational even outside regular working hours.

Contribution to Team Goals

  • Collaborate with team members to achieve key objectives, such as improving deployment efficiency, enhancing infrastructure security, and optimizing resource usage.
  • Work on initiatives to reduce operational costs and improve the overall performance of the infrastructure stack.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in Azure DevOps, AKS, and Terraform or similar cloud infrastructure management experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure DevOps pipelines and automation tools, including Azure CLI and PowerShell.
  • Strong expertise in managing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including experience with provisioning and managing Azure resources.
  • Solid scripting skills, preferably in Python or Bash, to automate repetitive tasks and enhance infrastructure workflows.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and regulatory compliance, particularly in an Azure environment.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, with excellent communication skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Certifications in Azure DevOps, AKS, or Terraform are highly desirable (or willingness to pursue certifications).
  • A proactive approach to continuous learning and staying updated with cloud technology trends.
