We are seeking a skilled and experienced Linux/Solaris Server Administrator with a strong background in UNIX environments. This role requires a minimum of 6+ years of experience in server administration, with expertise in installation, configuration, upgradation, patching, administration, and storage implementation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting mission-critical systems in a 24x7 environment and must be capable of managing complex infrastructure tasks independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Linux and Solaris environments, ensuring system reliability and performance.
- Perform installation, configuration, and upgrades of UNIX-based operating systems and associated applications.
- Implement and manage patching, security updates, and storage solutions to maintain a secure and stable infrastructure.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Linux/Solaris server issues and ensure minimal downtime.
- Work on Oracle VM Manager LDOM / OVM Administration, handling virtualized environments efficiently.
- Support Oracle Engineered Systems such as Exadata, Exalogic, and PCA, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Maintain and manage Oracle storage solutions and provide recommendations for system enhancements.
- Assist in migrations, system integrations, and performance tuning for existing infrastructure.
- Work on automation and scripting to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth deployment and maintenance of UNIX-based applications.
Required Technical Skills and Experience
- 6+ years of experience in Linux and Solaris server administration.
- Strong knowledge of UNIX environments, with hands-on experience in Solaris and Linux distributions.
- Expertise in installation, configuration, upgrades, and storage administration.
- Ability to work in a client-facing role with 24x7 shift support.
- Experience in Oracle VM Manager LDOM / OVM Administration.
- Familiarity with Oracle Engineered Systems including Exadata, Exalogic, PCA, etc.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle storage solutions.
- Understanding of best practices for system implementation and optimization.
Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills
- Knowledge of OS clustering, partitioning, virtualization, and storage administration.
- Hands-on experience in OVM migration projects.
- Proficiency in patching and maintenance of Oracle Engineered Systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a self-driven attitude.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team, meeting deadlines and project goals.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python, or Perl) for automation is a plus.
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies through certifications, training, or professional development.
