Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Offshore Linux System Administrator to join their team and support upcoming workloads. This role requires a highly independent professional who can work effectively with business and application teams while ensuring seamless Linux system operations.
As a Linux System Administrator, you will be responsible for server setup, management, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and ongoing support. The ideal candidate must be self-sufficient, resourceful, and capable of identifying areas for improvement while implementing necessary changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Linux Server Administration. Perform basic to advanced server setup, management, and maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
- System Patching & Upgrades. Regularly apply security patches, updates, and software upgrades to maintain system integrity.
- Shell Scripting & Automation. Develop robust shell scripts for process automation, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
- System Monitoring & Troubleshooting. Utilize various tools to monitor system health, detect issues, and resolve them promptly to minimize downtime.
- Disaster Recovery & Backup Management. Work with Rubrik solutions to implement and maintain disaster recovery protocols.
- Ansible Scripting. Leverage Ansible for configuration management, automation, and deployment tasks.
- End-User Support. Collaborate with business and application teams, providing hands-on technical support and addressing their needs effectively.
- VMware Administration. Manage virtualized environments using VMware to optimize system resources and enhance performance.
- Continuous Improvement. Identify areas needing enhancement, develop plans, and execute solutions to improve efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
- Offshore Availability. Must be able to work US hours (preferably Central Time).
- Strong Linux Expertise. Solid understanding of Linux server setup, management, and maintenance.
- Shell Scripting. Ability to create and modify complex shell scripts for automation and process improvement.
- Independent Problem Solver. Proactively identifies system issues and implements solutions without constant supervision.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting. Hands-on experience in system monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving performance issues.
- Rubrik Disaster Recovery. Experience working with Rubrik backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Ansible Scripting. Strong ability to write automation scripts using Ansible for system configuration and management.
- End-User Interaction. Comfortable working directly with business users and application teams.
- VMware Experience. Familiarity with VMware virtualization technologies.
- Strong Communication Skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical issues and solutions with teams and stakeholders.
Nice to Have Skills
- Dynatrace Experience. Knowledge of Dynatrace for advanced system monitoring and performance analysis is a plus.
