As a Data Architect, you will play a crucial role in shaping and managing structured data requirements, data modeling, and database administration for both relational and NoSQL databases. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing enterprise data architectures that align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured data analysis, model data requirements, and support application development for relational and NoSQL databases.
- Collaborate with business and application development teams to understand business data needs and translate them into well-structured data architectures.
- Develop and maintain logical and physical data models using CASE modeling tools such as ER/Studio and Hackolade.
- Ensure adherence to data modeling guidelines, best practices, and organizational standards.
- Manage NoSQL database administration, including Couchbase, Cassandra, MongoDB, AWS, and GCP environments.
- Work as part of a dynamic team of data management professionals supporting regional and global projects.
- Facilitate discussions between IT and business stakeholders, addressing any conflicts and ensuring alignment on data requirements.
- Define and maintain data architectures, data standards, and guidelines to ensure data consistency and reusability across the enterprise.
- Conduct research and analysis to promote the reuse of existing data standards while identifying new opportunities for standardization.
- Provide complete and precise documentation of business data requirements, ensuring accuracy, flexibility, and extensibility.
- Support Agile development lifecycle processes, delivering high-quality data architecture outputs within project timelines.
- Assist with defining and integrating data models into a master model, ensuring a unified enterprise data perspective.
- Conduct peer reviews to ensure quality and identify opportunities for alignment across portfolios or regions.
- Assist with knowledge transfer and seamless handover of logical data models to application development teams and DBAs for physical database design and implementation.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Education. Preferably a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience. Proven track record of working as an Application Data Modeler, Business Analyst, or in a similar role, with a strong focus on analyzing business data requirements.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in data modeling tools such as ER/Studio and Hackolade.
- In-depth knowledge of relational databases and NoSQL technologies (Couchbase, Cassandra, MongoDB).
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
- Strong understanding of data architecture principles, data integration strategies, and enterprise data standards.
- Hands-on experience with database administration and optimization.
