We are seeking a passionate and experienced AI Engineer to join the AI Governance team. This role is ideal for someone who is excited about Generative AI, Responsible AI, and large-scale engineering challenges. You will contribute to building scalable platforms and services that ensure Visa’s AI solutions are developed and deployed in a trustworthy, transparent, and compliant manner.
As an AI Engineer, you will be hands-on in full-stack development, partner with cross-functional experts (data scientists, product managers, legal/compliance), and directly influence Visa’s enterprise AI strategy. Your work will ensure that AI technologies are not only cutting-edge but also ethical, explainable, and resilient.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure AI governance services and components.
- Apply solid architectural principles to create efficient and reusable software systems that align with Visa’s enterprise AI vision.
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, legal, and product stakeholders to ensure AI solutions meet regulatory and ethical standards.
- Drive the development of Visa’s Responsible AI platform, leveraging the latest advances in Generative AI and agentic frameworks.
- Continuously evaluate and prototype emerging technologies and third-party solutions for potential integration into Visa’s AI stack.
- Tackle evolving challenges in AI lifecycle governance—model drift, explainability, bias, fairness, and compliance.
- Contribute to model inventory systems, lifecycle management tools, and ML/AI observability frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience

- 8+ years of industry experience in lieu of advanced education.
- Deep experience with full lifecycle application development including design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go, and strong skills in full-stack web technologies like React.js, Next.js, etc.
- Experience building predictive models, managing their lifecycle, and integrating them into production systems.
- Exposure to Big Data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Airflow).
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for ML workflows.
- Strong knowledge of AI/ML and Generative AI concepts and hands-on experience with foundation models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, LLaMA).
- Working familiarity with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, etc.
- Experience applying Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques in real-world AI solutions.
- Understanding of AI model risks including bias, drift, explainability, and fairness.
- Knowledge of tools and services like Google Vertex AI, AWS SageMaker, or Azure ML Studio.
- Demonstrated ability to work in agile environments and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with pre-training, fine-tuning, or reinforcement learning for foundation models.
- Familiarity with Microsoft BI tools, data pipelines, and the modern BI stack.
- Contributions to open-source ML governance tools or AI model registries.
- Understanding of compliance and ethical frameworks for AI (e.g., GDPR, ISO/IEC standards, NIST AI Risk Management Framework).
