Why i should event if i can reference to a method through a?

why i should use delegate as method pointer if i can do the same thing with event? for instance: i have delegate but i can do the same thing with events too Please explain it to me i am so confused...

Hi, Delegate contains the reference of more than one function and call it on single event. Delegates can be used to define callback methods. Delegates can be chained together; for example, multiple methods can be called on a single event. Methods don't need to match the delegate signature exactly. Using a delegate allows the programmer to encapsulate a reference to a method inside a delegate.

Delegates and events are entirely different things. Delegates are what power the events concept in C# programming language. With events you can only subscribe, or publish to them. With delegates you can perform other actions too, such as passing a delegate in another function as callback--although this is no longer a recommended approach and you should consider using async/await for asynchronous tasks and functions. So do not confuse yourself with the delegates and events, in C# events are the way to go when you want to have a publish-subscribe feature, and this feature is based on the delegates. In the events, the functions that you write as the listeners (subscribers) are the delegates that you pass, to execute when the event is called.
