where should i keep my project’s images in my aplication

Hello everyone.i have a guestion .where should i keep my project’s images in my aplication? Is it good to keep then database ?or i should keep them in the project folder

For project images: If you are using asp.net core then wwwroot folder for that purpose and if you are using asp.net mvc (old one) then content folder. Both are on root of the project. For user images: you can store on your sever, same folders but if your requirements are like files will increase with respect to time then azure blob storage is best. It is highly scalable.

You can store it either in a DB or in the folder. There is no right or wrong in using any of the approach. It purely depends on the resources availability and your If you don’t have enough database capacity then store it in the folder else you can go for DB. If you want to stop others using your image url link then can store it in the DB.

What type of project you are working on? Like Web, desktop etc. You can store images in project folder, cloud etc. In general path of image file should be store in database. If your storage path is constant then file name is enough. Append string of path and file name at runtime and serve as full image path.

You can keep your images in a local folder or the byte[] of images in DB in a varbinary column. I keep images in folder but for Pdfs (Customer's related documents like candidate resume etc) in DB. wait for other's suggestions.

The first thing I would reccomend is NOT storing images, files or any binary objects in a database. They, can, but they are not good at it. I can fix a car, but I am not good at it :) Instead keep a path reference to your images. This could be a key, file name + path, etc. Something so your code will know where the image is. If you are doing a web application the folder path is more a personal preference. I like dropping images in the /img folder. Partially b/c I started web dev back in 92, so short URLs were preferred. But I can and do use other folders for other image types. For example I keep all my PWA home screen icons in the /meta folder because I consider those images meta data of source. Not really part of the application itself, but part of the application identity. Also, by keeping images as actual files you can cache and reuse them around your UX as needed instead of duplicating the data as part of an entity model/record.
