what is Webhook and how to implement in asp.net ?

we want to implement the webhook .can anyone suggest with simple and workable code in asp.net . i have gone through serveral github code nor giving proper understand .

Please note that the WebHook works in coordination / cooperation of both parties. You can think of it as a protocol. If you are on receiving end of a webhook, you will need to do the following: 1/ develop one web api method. 2/ The web api you develop must be deployed on internet, of course. 3/ go to sender web application and find where web hook can be configured. 4/ put the url of your web api there along with method, credentials, etc. 5/ try to understand the format and type (json / xml) of data sent by the sender. Your web api MUST match that. When an event occurs, your webapi will be called by the sender code. You are free to code whatever you want with the information you received as a part of your webapi method invocation. Hope you understand. It is really quite simple. @ Nitin Sontakke , Thanks for you explantions . and sorry for the late reply . According to your last reply we are one the Receiver end point. we are need to listen through webhook call. Here we are struck . Vendor also not providing proper support on this . could you tell us with sample code to achive webhook Receiver end Portion ?. Thanks in advance , Karthik.K

Please, Please, Please DO NOT look for code. Try to digest the concept, which is important and really NOT quite difficult. Once concept is understood, code part is going to be VERY easy! Trust me. Question is do you want to RECEIVE information when event is occured OR you want to SEND the information? Please note that coding is needed ONLY by the one party. It all depends on which party you are.

@ Nitin Sontakke , Thanks for your immediate response . we had online application that would take up the orders from the customers and we did integration with fomo pay for payment, after the the transaction fomo Pay sends the transaction details through api get call at this point we have to do notifications to the customer end. Fomo pay supports the webhook concept to do notification . this is very new to us .If any simple sample code with whole process .it will be greatfull. Thanks in advance Karthik. K

Just like many people, I used to get scared of this word. But quite frankly it is really quite simple concept. First you will need to create a form where you take input from the user of your site about the WebAPI end-point they want you to call. This obviously must be saved somewhere, typically in a database table. Typically, a WebHook end-point is being called at the trigger of an event, for example, an invoice is generated. The information (payload, in technical terms) you send to WebAPI is either decided by you OR in consultation with your customer. An example of the JSON that you send must be published on your site - documentation. When event occurs, you simply make a WebAPI call on the end-point configured by your customer. Is this clear enough? If you use a bit of imagination, you will understand it clearly.
