At first ThreadStart is not a class  it is a delegate  in c# delegates are types so it can be used as a method parameter. The second speciality of delegate is  it can point to any method of same signature. In c# the orginal Thread class accepts ThreadStart delegate as parameter means there is one overloaded version of Thread class constructor which accepts a ThreadStart delegate as parameter. now as it is a delegate  it can point any method of same signature  that is the reason we are able to pass any method inside thread constructor while creating an instance of it. Microsoft developers are very clever wherever they need to delegate the logic to the the caller of the class they have created a delegate and used as parameter so that we could create our own method and could be able to pass them inside method/extension method/constructor as parameter. Linq extension methods are full of delegates that is the reason we are able to use lambda expressions as parameters as lambda expressions are nothing but shorthand way of creating inline delegates (delegates pointing to a method inline)

The difference between new Thread(SomeMethod) and new Thread(new ThreadStart(SomeMethod)) is purely syntactical: The C# compiler generates the same code for these; the former version is an abbreviation of the latter.
