What is the use of IsPostBack Method??

Question

I am confused why we use "IsPostBack" method in pageload of asp.net.Please explain me simply in your words. Thank in advance.

Hi Priyanka, IsPostBack is a property and its not a method . which returns boolean value. It checks whether the page is postedback or not.IsPostBack is a Boolean property of a page when is set (=true) when a page is first loaded. Thus, the first time that the page loads the IsPostBack flag is false and for subsequent PostBacks, it is true. An important point to be noted here is that each time a PostBack occurs, the entire page including the Page_Load is 'posted back' and executed.Thus a very common programming practice is that whenever some part of the code is to be executed just the first time a page loads, it is checked against the IsPostBack flag

Postback is actually sending all the information from client to web server, then web server process all those contents and returns back to the client. Most of the time ASP control will cause a post back (e. g. buttonclick) but some don't unless you tell them to do In certain events (Listbox Index Changed,RadioButton Checked etc..) in an ASP.NET page upon which a PostBack might be needed. Hello, IsPostBack is a property. It Gets a value that indicates whether the page is being rendered for the first time or is being loaded in response to a postback. if the page is being loaded in response to a client postback it returns True, otherwise False.
