Hello Debasis Method Overriding in C#.NET Creating a method in derived class with same signature as a method in base class is called as method overriding. Same signature means methods must have same name, same number of arguments and same type of arguments. Method overriding is possible only in derived classes, but not within the same class. When derived class needs a method with same signature as in base class, but wants to execute different code than provided by base class then method overriding will be used. To allow the derived class to override a method of the base class, C# provides two options, virtual methods and abstract methods. Method overriding in C# is a feature like the virtual function in C++. Method overriding is a feature that allows you to invoke functions (that have the same signatures) that belong to different classes in the same hierarchy of inheritance using the base class reference Method Overloading is the common way of implementing polymorphism. It is the ability to redefine a function in more than one form. A user can implement function overloading by defining two or more functions in a class sharing the same name. C# can distinguish the methods with different method signatures.

In general If we think the term " Override " itself says that changing the existing one. Here the one in our case can be the "property" or "function" or any member of the class. So,we are going to cahnge the functionality or behavior of the member by using the overriding. How to use ? Basically in C# to use overriding concept there should be the relation as like base and child class by using the inheritance concept. To achieve the concept succefully we needs to know ablout two keywords : 1)Virtual : For hiding the base class method. 2)Override : For overriding the base class method logic. class A { public virtual void Add(){} } class B : A { public override void Add(){} } ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overloading : Overloading means the functionality with different options. Tecnically, here options means like parameters of a function. For ex : 1st Time : client says I need to get rsum of 2 values which I pass. Then we write the method as : public void Add(int a, int b) { console.writeline(a+b); } 2nd Time : Client asks Now I want the same functionlaity(add) even If I pass with 3 values. Then our method would be like as: Public void Add(int a, int b, intc) { console.writeline(a+b+c); } Means the method name will be same but the number of parameters will gets changed & ofcourse the difference can be from datatype wise too. One more common example which we use in console application is: Console.WriteLine(); Here WriteLine() is an overloaded method.
