Hello everybody,
I have the exact same problem as mentioned here . Unfortunately the provided solution doesn't help.
While trying to install VS 2010 (all Editions incl. Express) on Windows 7 x86, I get an 'unknown error ' message; the installation continues and finishes supposedly with success. Though, trying to start VS afterwards leads to the same error message, terminating the program.
- I performed a fresh Windows 7 setup (no anti-virus software or the like)
- tried updating the system itself first (everything there is on Windows Update)
- tried installing the dotNET Framework 4.0 standalone installer first (which installs without errors)
- there is nothing related in windows' event log
- all setups run as admin
Here is my vslog.cab , hopefully someone can help me with the problem before it drives me insane.
I skimmed the logs and found some of these entries:
ISetupManager::GetGlobalCustomProperty() failed to find global prop in CProgressPage::RunningComponent()
Obviously, I have no idea what that means and whether or not it's important. So, what else am I to do?
Thanks in advance
