uploading file to ftp in c# winforms

Question

I am storing the backup of my database in remote server from there i need to upload that particular database to ftp... Problem is that i'm getting an exception occurred during a WebClient request. can anyone check the code file attached and suggest me the solution as soon as possible

Please read my reply carefully, as I stated FTP and email are both different things. FTP is used when your database is located on webserver/cloud. As per your code, it looks that you want to store the .bak files to email for more security of data in case of disaster. Well, you can do this by using MailMessage and SMTPClient class and attach that .bak file and send the email. But as you are taking backup as Pharmacy.bak . I strongly recommend you to give a valid name for the backup file like SoftwareVersion, DateTime, machine name. So that it can be easily identify the exact backup file for the specific version/ machine. Do you require any further clarification?

Thanks @Amit Gupta but here i'm taking the backup of the database from my system which gets stored in the server (check the path that i'm using for backup) Backup is working fine but i'm using the same path to upload that particular database to ftp.. For your clarification i'm not storing the backup in my system it gets stored in the server from there i am uploading to ftp

FTP and email are both different things. You cannot upload the file using Webclient, these are build to upload/download files from a webserver. For sending mail, you can use SMTPClient class and MailMessage Class. You can easily find these simple stuffs on the web. Hope you got your doubts cleared! Have you tried your ftp credentials in FileZilla, do try to connect it first, what I suspect that it might not get proper authentication.

@Amit Gupta When i take the backup of my database it gets stored in the server and not on my system which i'm using to take the backup.So i need to specify the path of the server system inorder to upload that particular database to the ftp.. Problem arises when i specify that particular path which leads to an exception of webclient request username and password which i'm using is for the authentication of the ftp url that i'm using in my code so i think i cannot use smtp or mail message inorder to upload to the ftp server

@Rafnas T P The problem is that my backup is not stored in the local system instead it gets stored in the remote computer so what i need to specify inplace of localfilepath

Also confirm that the FTP server is responding and your credentials are authenticate properly.
