How to implement SignalR in WebApi ? Any one please tell me

The naming of ASP.NET Core is confusing. They are .NET Standard assemblies that can be used by the .NET Framework. If you are using the .NET Framework, you can still reference the ASP.NET Core Nuget packages. The lastest ASP.NET Core Nuget packages are deveoped using .NET Standard 2.0. If you are using the .NET Framework 4.6.1 or later, you can reference them. This chart shows which version of .NET Standard can be referenced by .NET Framework versions: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/standard/net-standard The ASP.NET Core Nuget package is here: https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.AspNetCore/ If you expend the Dependencies tab on that page, you'll see that it supports .NET Standard 2.0 and so you can reference it from either .NET Framework projects or .NET Core projects.

You can create a Web API project using either the .NET Framework or .NET Core. If it is developed using the .NET Framework then you have the option to reference ASP.NET or ASP.NET Core. ASP.NET is built using the .NET Framework. ASP.NET Core is built on .NET Standard 2.0 and can be used by either a .NET Frawework Web API or a .NET Core Web API. If you are working on an existing project already built on the ASP.NET and the .NET Framework then you can either continue using the .NET Framework or update the project to use ASP.NET Core. .NET Framework projects must be hosted on a Windows OS. If you are creating a new project and have no dependencies, then use ASP.NET Core with a .NET Core Web API project. That will give you flexibility to deploy to Windows or Linux.

If you cannot use ASP.NET Core in your project, then you'll need to support OWIN in your ASP.NET project. This tutorial references an older implementation of SingalR on the .NET Framework: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/signalr/overview/getting-started/tutorial-getting-started-with-signalr The project uses MVC, but it can be adapted to work with a Web API controller.

This tutorial is a good starting point on integrating SignalR in a web application: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/core/tutorials/signalr The sample creates a Web Application, but you can create a Web API project type instead and use a static HTTP page as the client. The controlled in the sample tutorial can be used in a Web API project.
