Session and cookies both are the state management techniques but the main differences between the two are: 1) Using session variable we can make available a data in whole application.We can save a data in session variable in any page and we can retrive it from any page under that application. For example:- Session["u_id"]=TextBox1.Text; //here value of textbox will be stored in the session variable. For retriving we have to write:- string user=Session["u_id"].ToString(). Where as by making use of cookie we can send our data to a targeted page only and we can retrieve it from the target page only. 2). Session variable stores the data in the hidden field. where as cookies store the data in the client machine.
