Select, display and edit a gridview row

Question

I have a populated gridview and each row has a hyperlink button on click of which textboxes in the page gets populated. Then on click of submit/update button how can I populate the updated information in the same row of the data previously.

yes I aggree that will be a lot easier but again i am not accesing any database instead i am working with a datatable. i have my data in a viewstate. I am working in asp.net

Hi, Actually that is much simpler task. You are populating textboxes with corresponding value of gridview row. Right? Now you want to update the data on button click. You can simply call the update query inside your button click function and pass the corresponding textbox value. You can also store the identity value of that row in a hidden field which can be used to update.

Actually I have gone through all these pages but its not fulfilling my need. my requirement is to 1. Populate separate text boxes outside gridview on selection of select button in each row. 2. update the information in these external textboxes and reflect the updated information in the same previous row. I am stuck in the 2nd step
