SD Card not recognized in windows 7

I am using Toshiba laptop and it has pre-installed windows vista. I used to transfer files from my SD card from the slot provided in the laptop. I installed Windows 7 and now the system is not detecting the SD card. Anyone faced same problem and has the solution to this problem.
