Running the program when system is shutdown!

Question

Hi Everyone, i have created a Birthday Reminder application. I have set the alarm for a particular time in the program. Now what i want is that when i have my system shutdown and restart if the alarm time is included in that shutdown time , a pop up must show that "Alarm missed on time time_saved_for_alram". Hope u all can understand my need. Please help me in this regard.

Hello, To add your application to the startup folder upon install, from the setup project, go to File System, "User's Startup Folder" and add a shortcut to your application there. That will be added to the Windows Startup folder and the app will run when windows starts.

Thank you for ur reply , i think this will work out. I'll try and let u know. Also i need my application to add up to the startup of windows when it is getting installed, how to do that?

If the system is shutdown, it is not possible to run the application since you know. To run an application, you need power, PC, Operating System. For .NET application, you still need CLR runtime. The correct way to handle such situation is to persist the alter alarm list in the data file before the application closes. When the application is restart, and opens the application, the application should scan the list and see compare with the current time. If the current time is late than some of the alert time, and prompts the user that some alert has been missed. It is just like the Outlook.. Hello, Assuming that your application is running when you are shuting down, you need to save the date, perhaps in a registry key as the last known date and after powering the computer up, you need to read the registry key and compare it with the current system time and see if you passed the reminder time. Hope this helps.
