Regarding Articles View count

Question

Article View counts doubt.

I posted an article (used Save and Finish Later option) ==> Number of Views column shows count 1.

I opened the article and re-edited and saved again (this time final submission, Finish option) ==> Now the View count shows 8.

How is it suddenly jumped from 1 to 8 view count, please dont say this number of views by Admins/Editors etc.

Even when we open an article, sometimes the count get added by 2.

Now i again re-opened the article and it shows views count as 13.

Hi, you all can do a test so we can confirm its working fine or a bug happening.

Ha ha, i just pointed out taut might some wrong count showing. I have no issues. Cheers!

Suthish, It is fine. A few views does not matter at all, even they are by the Authors themselves. We have thousands of views on articles everyday so it should not matter. If we put a logic in the code that if article is not approved then do not increment, it is lot of processing for lot of pages :). We try to avoid any extra cost that will slow down the page loads. Cheers!

I agree, but this article still not approved. Only views by me. Even why second observation happening. You can do a demo article submission and check the differences.

Try refreshing an article and see what is the number it is increasing with. View counts are considered when a page is viewed by a user or page is refreshed by the same user. Counts during editing process may be more because it may be refreshed a few times. Authoring and editing process is not much an impact on articles views. It is the number of users viewing the article.

Ok here another observation.. Go to My Account, open your article the page views will get incremented by 1. Now again click on My Account, its again get incremented by 1. For example: First time count shows 10 Second time count shows 11. (why an incremented by 1 happening here)
