Read excel document from Document library in SP2007

Question

I want to read the contents of excel file stored in document library in SharePoint 2007. SP2007 does not support Sandbox solution and I can't deploy farm solution. I need JavaScript based solution.

What I tried so far?

I have followed following Retrieve Data from SharePoint Document Libraries (using SPServices).

The code given here works, but I need to get the content of file. How can I get my code?

Any reference or advice is most valuable.

Hi Aakash, Have you tried using ExcelPlus plugin (http://aymkdn.github.io/ExcelPlus/) ? var eplus= new ExcelPlus(); eplus.openRemote( "/documets/test.xlsx" , function (pass) { if (pass) { // Read contents of first sheet console.log(eplus.selectSheet(1).readAll()) } }); I tried below "FileReader API" on SharePoint Online, please check if that works too on SP2007 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/sp-add-ins/upload-a-file-by-using-the-rest-api-and-jquery

Hi @Nanddeep Nachan Sir, I tried your link but the pluging is depricated. But it will be usefull. I changed my file format and changed to CSV from excel. What I did is, I have used following code: function readTextFile(file) { var rawFile = new XMLHttpRequest(); rawFile.open( "GET" , file, false ); rawFile.onreadystatechange = function () { if (rawFile.readyState === 4) { if (rawFile.status === 200 || rawFile.status == 0) { var allText = rawFile.responseText; alert(allText); } } } rawFile.send( null ); } Here passing file URL reads the CSV files successfully.
