Rating in sharepoint survey

Question

I have created a survey in sharepoint 2010. It has a column Release whose value is the name of the survey and it should be auto populated. Can this be done on front end using look up or calculated columns? How can this be achieved?

Thanks for your prompt response. Yes this is a good option. But is there a way we can achieve this without making use of additional list. Like using javascript in designer or anything else?

Hi Vardhini, yes its posssible. Please find steps below using look up column. ou can create a master list in the same site wherein you can store the values that will be shown in the as name of the survey. In the same master list, you can also have additional columns that will have values you later want to be filled automatically in the survey Then in the Survey list, you can create a lookup column to the master list on the main column. In SP 2010, when you lookup to a column from another list, you can also carry more columns of that list in your child list. In your case, you can also carry over the other columns in the survey list which will get auto-populated based on what value you select in the main lookup column.
