Project won't run

Question

Hi, I have just been assigned a project built by some one else and as usual with other people's code I get irritating issues. I need to make chages to the site / app and can load in VS code and can locate what needs changing but cannot run the site to test the changes. Have tried npm install but just get a series of errors. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you check event viewer -> Application, if it has registerd any error log?

Thank you for your replies. They are very much appreciated. I have deleted bin and obj/release and debug folders and still get the same errors. I first get an error code 1. Then it checks for python2 and does not find despite python vers 2 and 3 being present on the PC. Then it gives a build failed with error code 7 following lots of gyp errors. Removes the node_modules folder and stops. Very frustrating. Is it possible that the project has been provided with missing files?

Hi Walter, Most of these kind of issues occurs due to missing libraries or package references in the code or project. All you need to do is to go through the errors which will provide you the information/details about actual issue. Sometimes it might irritates but it's not something you have done. Even a single missed library/package reference can give you series of error, so focus on the error you are getting, go through them is the way by which you can fix that. You can also google those error as it might be possible that similar kind of error was faced and resolved by developers on communities like C#Corner, Stackoverflow etc.

Try sharing the issues screenshot so can help you more. As 80% of the issues happen because of 20% of actual issue.. There can be various reason why your project not loading. Either version or assembly missing.. It’ll be good if you share some more details
