Picturebox and index

Question

in former times ( ;) ) it was possible to set an index picturebox(1); picturebox(2);... but now - in C#? Is there anything similar? Thanks a lot CS

A good place to create your array is in the Form_Load event handler. Also you need to assign it to a form-level variable rather than a local variable so it can be accessed by other methods within the form. public partial class Form1 : Form { int z; PictureBox[] pb; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { pb = {pictureBox1,pictureBox2,pictureBox3,pictureBox4,pictureBox5}; } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { pb[0].Visible = false; } }

One more question: this is ok: public partial class Form1 : Form { int z; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { PictureBox[] pb = {pictureBox1,pictureBox2,pictureBox3,pictureBox4,pictureBox5}; pb[0].Visible = false; } } } but if I use the line: PictureBox[] pb = {pictureBox1,pictureBox2,pic.... above : public Form1() like int z; as a global or public variable it seems not to be allowed?! One thing you can do is to create a PictureBox array: PictureBox[] pictureBoxes = {pictureBox1, pictureBox2}; pictureBoxes[0] will then refer to pictureBox1 and pictureBoxes[1] will refer to pictureBox2. Another thing you can do is to use the Controls collection of the PictureBox container. So, if the container is the Form itself, you can refer to the 'i' th PictureBox using the expression: this.Controls["pictureBox" + i] as PictureBox This is sometimes useful when looping through your PictureBoxes or when finding out which PictureBox 'sent' the event when your PictureBoxes share the same event handler.
