OpCodes to set private properties

Question

Hi, I'm new to using Reflection.Emit and I'm trying to create a class that will have the following setup: public class Test { private Guid _id; public Test() { _id=Guid.NewGuid(); } } I managed to define the class and have a default constructor that does nothing, however I'm stuck on creating a new Guid within the constructor and assigning it to the private property _id. Any help would be greately appreciated. Regards, Jo

I think we are not on the same page. I know that the class example I gave works, but I'm trying to generate that class at runtime using Reflection.Emit, and that's where I'm having the trouble with defining the guid assignment. OpCodes have ways of setting strings, integers and floats but there isn't one for a guid, hence I'm not sure how to go about it.

I used your code in the following program and it works; at least it does what I expect it to. I admit that I know nothing about Reflection.Emit. My guess is that there is something you are expecting to be more difficult than it really is. using System; namespace _72589 { class Test { private Guid _id; public Test() { _id = Guid.NewGuid(); } public void Show() { Console.WriteLine(_id); Console.WriteLine(this); } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Test t = new Test(); t.Show(); } } }

I got a default constructor working that doesn't do anything - ie doesn't set my guid id field to Guid.NewGuid. I don't know how to do that part - which opcode to use to set it etc.

I don't understand. Your code works; what is the problem? Do you get a compile error or an execution error or something else? Why do you say it does not work?
