To use observable collections we must explicitly specify the ObservableCollection class or a class derived from it. I am not aware of a way to use it application-wide automatically. When we use the ObservableCollection class or a class derived from it notifications are provided when items are added removed or when the whole list is refreshed. Notifications are not automatically provided of any changes to any of the members of the items. To get notifications of a change to a member of an item the class for the items must derive from the INotifyPropertyChanged Interface .
