Now these days, MVC is taking place of .NET. Because MVC is becoming much simpler and popular than .NET. The main advantages of ASP.net MVC are: Enables the full control over the rendered HTML. Provides clean separation of concerns(SoC). Enables Test Driven Development (TDD) . Easy integration with JavaScript frameworks. Following the design of stateless nature of the web. RESTful urls that enables SEO. No ViewState and PostBack event. Now, you can go with MVC as well.

MVC is build on TOP of .Net Framework. So if .Net goes down, MVC should also.. I think you are comapring Asp.Net Web Forms with Asp.Net MVC?

It does not means that .NET is going. I mean to say .NET is very famous. Many companies are working on it. But now companies are looking for a candidate who having knowledge with MVC because everyone knows if someone knows about MVC, that means he does know about .NET as well. Please look at the Giri's question as well. I was just explaining MVC is another very good option apart from .NET. He can go with MVC as well.
