yes it is perfectly right, even you should not flow the data in form of DataTable across layers, it is advisable to create some Data Transfer Objects for this. Regards AJ

For his you can create a Extension method for converting it to JSON: public static string ToJson (this T objectToBeConverted, Func filter) { return new JavaScriptSerializer().Serialize(filter(objectToBeConverted)); } Now for converting a List to JSON, you need a list and a filter which you need to create, so do something like this: public class User { public string Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } Suppose you have a list of users which you want to convert to JSON: public IList users = new List (); Creating Filter: Func , object> userListFilter = new Func , object>(users => users.Select(user => new { user.Id, user.Name })); Converting it to JSON: users.ToJson >(userListFilter)); Hope it helps.
