Question

Since SQL is a good query language then why does the need of LINQ arises in Realtional Databases.

Hi Shweta, As per my knowledge about LINQ, linq not broken SQL but the need of LINQ is its Intigrated with C# (VB) useful for eliminating the impedance mismatch between programming languages and databases. LINQ is simple for use compare to SQL.but thing is that they both have their own area of benifits. Thanx, Pravin.

Linq queries are simpler and once you learn the syntax,you can apply it to other sources too. Other advantage is intelliscence support, so no more creating strings and executing sql queries

Hi, LINQ is a core languag feature of C# and VB.NET. As such it has nothing to do with SQL. But as a generalized query feature there exists multiple ways to use that feature to query databases. It is built on to of the SQL Server .NET API (System.Data.SqlClient). Compiling linq queries every time on the fly on busy pages, can cause a lot of unnecessary over head and end up being slower. But thats what compiled Linq is for, so it compiles the query once and removes the overhead of doing it each time. Also refer following link, Basics of LINQ
