issue at the time of create or open project in visual studio 2015

This error occurs due to corrupt applicationHost.config file. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\IIS Express\config	emplates\PersonalWebServer and copy applicationHost.config file and paste it to C:\Users\User_Name\Documents\IISExpress\config This may solve your error.

Try these steps: Go: C:\Program Files (x86)\IIS Express\config	emplates\PersonalWebServer Copy 3 files: applicationhost.config, aspnet.config và redirection.config Go to: Documents\IISExpress\config Paste and replace all 3 files Reload Let me know if this solution solve your issue

First cause is related to permissions so start you visual studio in administrator mode. Right click on visual studio symbol and Run as administrator then open your project. if above doesn't work , create a new project copy the config file and paste replace with old project. you have some unformatted tags in your configuration file which i can't guess so directly adviced you to replace with new .

Did all the steps what you said still didn't get any solution . From last two days facing same issue in VS 2015 & VS 2019 also.

Right click on the icon of visual studio , it will show you all currently created projects , then move the pointer to your web api project , note the location , then go to the location and copy all files including sln file to another location and open it , test if this works.

Open Visual studio in Adminstrator also facing same issue ... i didn't get where the actual issue at the time of project creation
