frankly speaking yes Asp.Net webforms is dead, rarely any new project is being developed in webforms, however webform were famous for almost a decade so there is a huge amount of software that were developed using webform are still present ,which needs maintainance, so for interview purpose webform is still necessary. MVC is what most companies prefer. .Net Core projects are less in market but soon it will replace all MVC project and in future all project will be developed in .net core only.

We can say asp.net web form is dead for new solution and product development but there are still lots of solution and product in the market which are developed on asp.net web form. It's maintenance, support, fixes and feature adding will be going on until it is in use. For new project/product development asp.net MVC and .NET Core with Angular and React is mostly used in the industry. If you are new to .NET then better to learn asp.net MVC and .NET Core. I would specially suggest to learn .NET Core because .NET core is future of .NET.

ASP.Net webform is not dead yet and will be supported for atleast a decade or more because it is tied to operating system. And just like .NET Framework itself, Web Forms so entrenched in the .NET Framework that Microsoft will not say they’re deprecating it officially. Your Web Forms applications will continue to work as long as you have people to support them, but just like Classic ASP applications, these will become increasingly brittle the older they get. However, I don't see any scope for new development with ASP.NET webform. Therefore, if you are learning then obviously go for ASP.NET MVC or better do for asp.net core. There is huge scope for .net core in the current situation and will be more demanding in the future. Best of luck.

Most of the support project use ASP.Net Web form and MVC. Any new project, most of the companies would prefer .Net Core (with or without Js framework like Angular/ React). For interview purpose, ASP.Net MVC and .Net Core are enough unless the project is build on ASP.Net Webform.
