IE11 compatibility

Question

hi all...

All my asp.net websites are working fine till IE10.

But, in IE11, I am facing many issues-
1. GridView -
OnSelectedIndexChange - Event not firing.
Properties - AutogenerateSelectbutton = true; AutogenerateColumns=true;

2. DropDownList -
SelectedIndexChange - Event not firing.
Properties - Autopostback = true;
----
All controls are in update panel.

Do anyone have idea about this ?

Hi.. I did all the things.... Nothing is working... my website is in VS2010 .NET 4.0. Just 1 thing worked out - Go to Tools -> Compatibility View Settings -> Add a website. I added my URL here. That's all....

Hi.. I have written this statement - http-equiv = "x-ua-compatible" content = "IE=10" > Still this is not working in IE11... There are 2 master pages in my site... MasterPage1.master and Site1.master --- MasterPage1.master is as - http-equiv = "x-ua-compatible" content = "IE=10" > ---------------- Site1.master is as - http-equiv = "x-ua-compatible" content = "IE=10" > //and other images. ------------------

That is a third party component specific issue. I cannot tell what could be the reason for the error because I haven't used that and I'm afraid someone from here can assist you with that. This kind of issue must be asked in the telerik community and it's just so unfortunate for you that you didn't get a response. You may have to wait a bit or bump your thread there to get there attention. Again, if this issue is only in IE11 and while waiting for the fix, then what you can do at the moment if to follow the workaround that i've posted in my first post to use a Meta to force IE to render in IE10. Hi.. I did post and mail the same query to telerik.... But.. No response from their end. Hence.... Also... I am getting the below error while I debug from F12 Developer tools - __doPostBack('ctl00$Controlscontent$radio_reportSelection$2','') '__doPostBack' is undefined -------- i.e. radiobuttonlist postback is undefined. Has anyone faced or seen this error ?? If yes, please guide further !! And this is in IE11... I never got this error in IE10 or lower versions.

Hi... I saw these links... No... This is not what I need... This has O.S requirements and all... I just need versions matching between .NET Frameworks and Telerik Controls Versions. Eg - Telerik Control Version 2.0 is not working properly in Visual Studio 2010 and 2012.

Hi... Yes... this is exactly what I am looking for... Which telerik controls versions are compatible with which .net versions. What issues are faced if the versions are mismatched ?? Eg - Telerik 2.0 is not compatible with .net 4.0. So, if we use this combination, what are the possible errors that can occur ?? Do you know any reference links for the same ?? If yes.. Please do let me know...else... I am doing google for this only. Please guide.

I'm not sure if i follow you correctly, Are you asking which telerik controls are compatible of any dotnet versions? Based on your table, it simply means that telerik 2.0 is not compatible with .net 4.0 or higher versions.

Hi.. Please explain the telerik controls versions... Its like... can we have data as - ID Telerik Version .net version Compatibility 1 2.0 2.0 Compatible 2 2.0 4.0 and greater versions not compatible. 3 4 etc. In a format that which telerik control version is compatible with which .net version.

1 more query.... Later on after few months, there will be newer versions of IE. Say- IE12 ,IE13, IE14, etc. So...I am also looking for a solution that... whenever the versions of IE comes , all asp.net portals or websites are compatible with all newer versions.. Eg - say now IE13 have come in market. So, all older asp.net websites must be compatible with IE13 also. -There's no guarantee that your website will work on future versions of any browsers as any browser specific engine will change, This means that what you'll code today, javascript and css may not work on future versions That's why it's always recommended to follow browser compliant codes as possible as you can to atleast minimize the risk of not working your code in future versions of browsers, but then again this would not guarantee as technology will constantly change 1. Telerik Controls versions versus ASP.NET Versions - Do lower versions of telerik controls have issues with higher versions of .NET ?? and vice-versa. Possibly, when using third party components you have to make sure that the controls will work on the versions of NET that you are working- There are actually controls that have specific downloads for certain versions of ASPNET or NET in general 2. Are there any guidelines on - "Number of parameters in a method/function in ASP.NET C#" ?? Eg - I have a portal in which there is method with 18 parameters (string, double, datetime, int32 ). Please explain - why one must not have so many parameters in a method ?? I'm not aware of any guides regarding what is the maximum parameters to be passed in a method. Perhaps thousands? As rule of the thumb you need to make your method accept small parameters as possible as readabilty, maintainability and performance will suffer. Passing alot of parameters would simply means that your code's separation of concern is poor and needs refactoring. If you are passsing more than 10 params then you may have to consider passing the object itself. I mean that create a class that holds those properties and pass that instead.

If you are only experiencing this issue on IE11 then what you can do at the moment is to force your IE browser to switch to compatibility mode by setting the meta like below: http-equiv = "x-ua-compatible" content = "IE=10" > That will force the browser to render the page in IE10 compatibility when viewing in IE 11.
