Do you mean User Defined Function (UDF)? If yes, please say so. For such a small calculation why do you want a UDF anyway? Is this is a real project or an interview question? Do we have to keep on guessing what exactly you want. DateDiff is a function, which I already used!

ALTER TABLE (TableName) ADD Age AS DATEDIFF(YEAR, DOB, GETDATE()) Just Add this column and u will be done for new Records it will automatically calculate the age for old u need to do it manually

this is correct requirement nithin please help me hi anyone help me it is possible if possible please send a query mostly iam tried i will send requirement requirement. when we wish to be find age or get age for date of birth we should be derive at that time so is there any way to derived age automatically when ever required. Solutions. its many many way to get the age automatically 1) use function 2) computed column. etc.

@Amudhan, In your original question you asked for 'computed column'. Mangesh gave you script for 'computed column'. Now you are saying: "I need to calculate age using computed column or function". What exactly does that mean? Please be very specific in your question. What exactly you want? If you wish, you can use it as follows: select * ,datediff( year , [DateOfBirth], getDate()) [Age] from [dbo].[Student]

what error u are getting ? well remove () around student just student i just specified it for the table name
