how to make a timer, working in same way as system timer

hello, im trying to make a timer in my program... i dont want use the system timer... for this i have made two extra calsses, ClockDisplay and NumberDisplay... in ClockDisplay i have TimeTick() method, but when i compile it doesnt happen any... can someone help me? i appreciate,, thanks...

Thread.Sleep(..) in windows form freezes the UI, you can alternatively apply one line of code Application.DoEvents(); just below Thread.Sleep line. Better use async threading here for smooth operation

Itbdepends upon your requirement, when you want to start your timer, as you had started the loop in form load event, the form will appear on work finishes. You can use Application.DoEvents(); at the first line or you can use a seperate button to start the timer.

Async threading was introduced in .net 4, it is not depend on vs versions. .net framework always make improvements and bug fixes in their releaaes. It should be a good habit to close the question, if answers fulfill the requirements.

thanks Amit, it works now... im affraid that async only is available for tasks and i should use only await Task.Delay(), while both my VS 2015 and VS 2017 hasnt delay method in system.threading.tasks!!!???
