How to get GUID from a row

Question

i tried to cast it, it throws an error. This is the row definition
ID UniqueIdentifier NOT NULL
this is the cast
empGUID = (Guid)rstEmployees.Fields["ID"].Value;
Would it make sense to anyone that it worked last night and stopped working today...I dont even think anything changed.

Datatype of ID Field is GUID

Thanks, makes more sense when everything is converted to string. What would the datatype of the id field be, Guid or text?

I realized it is less sloppy to not grab the key anyway, it works better if I just work with the other fields. Thanks for trying though.

It doesnt work and I know it should. I noticed that before the GUID goes into the database, it is fine, but after i retrieve it, it has {} surrounding it. Could this be the issue? why are they being added?
