How to differentiate ASP.NET and C# in an web application

Hi all there, How to differentiate ASP.NET and C# in an web application developed in .NET framework or where the ASP.NET should requires C# to complete it's job, Thanks in advance.

Well, C# is very powerful and can do almost everything. But it should be logical enough :). The exact job of ASP.NET is to build a dynamic website where data keep changing.

ASP.net is a technology , for using the same you need use an underlying language. Got confused see the below given sentence . In Chemistry Atoms jumps from one orbit to another orbit ( Now you please identify which portion of the sentence is english and which portion of the sentence is chemistry ) ? You can seperate it. Yes.ASP stands for Active Server Pages which uses HTML controls to create .aspx web pages in .NET framework. C# is used to write the logics. So in short if you want to build a dynamic website in .NET environment you need ASP and C#. Hope this helps. Mark this as accepted if you are satisfied :)

Your answer is NO. There are different technologies to build websites.There are JSP pages which uses JAVA. There are website based on PHP pages, like Facebook is based on php. ASP.NET is Microsoft's version. You can relate this with smart phones. Like, samsung uses Android OS while Nokia uses Microsoft's windows OS. Similarly, if you chose Microsoft technology to build a website then you have to do it with ASP.NET using C# or VB. About C#, it is a high level language following Object Oriented Programming Principal. You can compare it with JAVA for your understanding. So to build ASP.NET website/webpage/webform (you can think all as same for now) you need to first learn and understand C#. Then slowly you can move to ASP. To sum up, " C# is a programming language, while ASP.NET is a framework used for building dynamic web pages. You can use C# (or VB, or other supported languages) to write applications with the ASP.NET framework." Hope this helps :)

ASP.NET requires C# for the code behind. C# is a language which is understood by the .NET CLR. Think about a facebook registration page. Think that it's a ASP.NET application(in practical it's not). So it has a registration page. The page is known as User Interface where the user interacts, fill the required data and then clicks save button. The UI is created using ASP and when the user clicks the button hidden from the user, C# code runs and carry the submitted data to the database and saves it and then redirects the user to the Home page.
