How are you keeping your team motivated?

Question

I just want to know that as a leader /manager what steps are you taking to keep your team motivated? How do you collaborate? How do you take their attention away from the pandemic and associated rumours w.r.t job and your company?

We are using Microsoft Teams for collaboration. All of us within the team believe in setting the correct expectation and meeting the expectation. Once the assigned tasks are completed by each of us get the sense of achievement and that really motivates to keep going. In my opinion it is individual responsibility to apply control to consume the available news/information. If you try to take anyone away from the pandemic which is affecting their day to day life it will tempt them to yearn for more which will really affects productivity. What do you think?

As a developer I think few things that give developer motivation: 1.) Appreciate the good work in front of every team member. 2.) Give the gifts and awards to the developer. 3.) In a year arrange a holiday trip. 4.) Push the passionate developer to learn new technologies. 5.) Arrange a weekly meeting/space where they can talk about the non-technical stuff. These are things that I believe will keep a developer motivated and will contribute to the growth of the carrier. If you want to add anything to it you can. Always happy to hear from you.

I would suggest going with this approach Firstly give them psychological safety Clear communication on expectations of work. Appreciating / Getting on Tea / Coffee with the whole team at least 30 minutes after every sprint you can create local retro over there and applaud all members over there and bring your viewpoint strategically on what you want to do next step.
