Help with getting string data from an ODBC database with linked tables.

I am working with Visual Studio 2008, writing in VB, and have an ODBC data connection that I would like to pull data from based on user input.  Lets say FirstName & LastName.  With this user input I would like to pull all qualifying items from three tables that i can link in a query, into var strings.

Can anyone help?
