Google AdSense showing 0 clicks out of 400 ad views

Question

I have a registered Google AdSense account with C# corner and now I have opportunity to view reports for last couple of days. Here are the figures:

1385 article views
395 ad views (reported by Google)
3 clicks (reported by Google, all made by me trying to make sure that counter works)
0.00 Euro earnings.

Now something looks wrong in this picture, especially knowing that AdSense has been introduced on C# corner in words: "Sign up now and start earning from articles, blogs, and other content you contribute to our active community."

Could somebody from C# corner please explain this to me? Are reports realistic, i.e. is it true that NOBODY has clicked an ad? If so, what's the point in placing ads then?

Siva is right. We need to be patient to see the results. Also encourage friends (ourselves) to click on ads and check out what product it is in the ads. Just kidding. The simple fact is - Google Ads or any ads don't make much money these days. User are smart enough not to click around. They just read, learn and leave. They do not click. Google Clicks still pay close to 20 cents per click. But if there are no clicks, they are not going to pay. However, I agree with Sam too. This per click used to be $2.00 back in the days but since Google does not disclose contracts and earnings, they are in control how much they want to pay you (if they want) depending on how good their results for current quarter are. If there sales are bad, they cut commissions for the site owners to keep their earnings high for Stock Holders. It's all a big Scam. OK here are some factors. Advetisers are paying less (blame on bad economy) and Google is taking a bigger chunk from it rather than passing it to the authors. I remember $1 - $2 per click and now it is $.10 to $.20 or less. So earnings are down 90% already. Google seems to pay less attention to users from INDIA and we have half of our traffic from INDIA. In fact some advertisers do not want to show their ads to Indian subcontinent it is because USA and Europe users are more likely to buy a product. Programmers are smart. They know how to ignore ads :). So it turns into less clicks. Conclusion : Google AdSense may not be the right choice for us. Need to figure something else out.

:) Thank you Sam. Hope if site itself making $500 including everybody's article, we have to move to other techniques of earning. I thought that $500 is only from mahesh's article and run into a wrong calculation that if I reached 100 Article then every month I do receive 50$+[Keep Going] [Seems that I does not read his reply properly]. Adsence ads earns more money from site for newbie topics like "How Do I earn Money online", "Weight reduction techniques" etc., Think about the ads for the first one and second one. Hope the Click through rate for the content is very high. Programming community site's CTR is comparative less. Hope Mahesh will come to a good conclution (Positively for US :) ) at the End of March.

No, Sivaraman, we do not need to be patient; that is how Capitalism works. Your description of how AdSense works explains why patience is likely foolish. First of all we need to be patient. If we get one click for 3000 to 4000, it will be decent as per google. Also depends on the topic and ads that is displayed and who is viewing it. If you have High page impression, 1 click will give you more money. Say for example if had written some 300 decent articles, your page view per day is "I hope you can imagine", and 1 click will give you more than what you get today. I agree. We are going to try for a couple of months. Plus site itself makes about $500 per month from Google Adsense (including my articles). So we are going to pump back that money plus some extra. We are working on requirements for new system that can manage all this. I would say, close to March end, we will know where we at.

At this moment I have 1064 ad views and 0 clicks. With that kind of result the whole idea of Google ads is questionable. I suppose it's cheaper to hold blank space on the page than a commercial which only distracts view.

I agree with Santosh. 2-3 clicks per 1000 views is normal. This of this way. How many times you go to different websites and actually click on a banner? These are programmers and try not to click on things :) unless there is something really interesting to them. BUT don't let this Google revenue discourage you. We are working on bigger plans for our authors in year 2011. I do not want to reveal them yet.

Even the click rate also has got various factors, mainly being relevant ads displayed for relevant content, type of traffic (views you got), etc... I am not sure of the articles but otherwise from my experience with some other site i know the click thru is somehwere around 2-3 clicks per 1000 views for small code snippets

I understand that my three clicks have been ignored. But I do not understand that other 392 viewers have clicked total zero times. I'm wondering what is average click rate on Google ads shown on articles? Is it really so low? Could somebody with longer exposure give click rate for own articles, just to compare?

As far as I know, google adsense is very much capable of handling duplicate clicks and fradulent activities from its robust crawler where in if you click your own ads or particlarly if you get traffic from certain ips, it just discard them and eventually ban the accounts...

Hi Zoran, This is something new we are trying. We only place ads and have no control over on earnings. Google takes care of all that. Google does a lot of shady stuff and do not pay good to sites like ours. We will try this for a month or so. BUT if we do not see significant earnings, we will remove Google AdSense and implement our own System so authors can earn from the ads. Again! We are working on our own system but it will take some time. Most probably in March 2011 we will introduce it. Best, Mahesh
