gmail as smtp (one of my last newbie questions)

im finally near the end point of my thesis (yehey! thanks for the people who have been helpful here).

anyway i was trying to use gmail as my smtp service on the server configuration. i need it to retrieve the password in case a user forgets his password.

problem is im getting this error:

Write Code in Global.asax File that has Application Level Events . like Application Start , Error , Session_Start etc..

lol, i see you already edited your post. alright. i have another. i want my website to automatically send an email once it reaches a specific date. it doesnt need to be a part of a webform or webpage. what should i do??

like what ive said im just using the asp.net website administration tool and the retrieve password logincontrol. so im practically not using any codes. the smtp settings inside the website administration tools asks only these options: Server Name: Server Port: * Server port should be a positive integer From: Authentication: None Basic Choose this option if your e-mail server requires you to explicitly pass a user name and password when sending an e-mail message. Sender's user name: Sender's password: NTLM (Windows authentication) Choose this option if your e-mail server is on a local area network and you connect to it using windows credentials. so i have no idea how to add a new set of code in there.
