Give some explanation about Production Support job profile

Hi all ... I would like to know about the job role : Production Support. Can i expect a better career further if i choose this role now ... ??

Gowtham, After UAT (User acceptance test) product will go to production (customer starts using it). Usually at this time service company will provide warranty support. Warranty support duration dependence upon service company usually 1 month or above. At this time client won't pay money for support(Bug fixing etc). After this it will go to production support. Its a separate team they will resolve the issue which is raised from client side. That can be technical/non technical. Service company will get money for this. If you have passion for development I won't recommend this job profile. If this post is useful then mark it as "Accepted Answer"

Its dependence on the company/project. If its product based company you will get good product as well as domain knowledge. In case of service based company, usually project will be small and learning opportunity will be very less. One more thing is moving to development not fully under your control. It will be difficult to get development project after 1 or 2 years of production support.

Thanks brother. :) But, some people suggested, if you're in Production Support for somedays, you can experience the complete flow perticular application/project. Thereafter, I can feel comfort when i moved to development. Is it a considerable aspect ?
