Get the dropdown list of selected value and text in MVC

Question

How to get dropdownlist selected value and selected list while submitting of form in ASP.Net MVC without using EF? If there's any solution please let me know.

Hi, Adjust the parameters of the following line : ViewBag.ClientLists = new SelectList(ClientMaster, " ClientId ", " ClientName ", 1); Change it to : ViewBag.ClientLists = new SelectList(ClientMaster, " ClientName ", " ClientId ", 1); Thank you.

Hi, You cant fetch both text and value from the dropdownlist directly via models. As they point only one property. In that case try to merge your value with txt by separator as like below : public ActionResult EcgBilling() { var model = new SelectBillingSiteReportModel { Sites = new List { new SelectListItem {Text = "One", Value = "One:1"} , new SelectListItem {Text = "Two", Value = "Two:2"} , new SelectListItem {Text = "Three", Value = "Three:3"} , } }; return View(model); } [HttpPost] public ActionResult EcgBilling(SelectBillingSiteReportModel model) { string[] array = model.SelectedSiteKey. Hi Sourav, Let us think with the following scenario : In View : @Html.DropDownListFor(m=>m.SelectedVendor , Model.Vendor, "Select Manufacurer") @Html.HiddenFor(m=>m.SelectedvendorText) Whenever you do httppost by clicking "Submit" button, The httppost with parameter of type model propety SelectedVendor will be having the data. Directly you can access the value. public ActionResult InsertValue(Vendor venobj) { //Here you can get dropdownlist value by assigned property directly var x = venobj.Selectedvendor; } Mark as answer, If it helps. Hi, I have got the following answer by your changes. ViewBag.ClientLists = new SelectList(ClientMaster, "ClientName", "ClientId", 1); At View Side But while binding the dropdownlist i am getting only clientid not the clientname. @Sreekanth Reddy

I am showing you the sample code of it. For Controller: cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ClientName", objCliMas.ClientName); cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ClientAddress", objCliMas.ClientAddress); In this "objCliMas.ClientName" I am getting only value of the dropdown list at the database.
