Filtering example

Question

I have one master page .in one content page there is dropdown list and gridview

But when at (!ispostback) the page directly select the page load of master page .

it is not selecting the drop down list event change.

so i m not able to do filtering according to drop down

Hi, It's not necessary to put contentplaceholder in the master page. But if u will not include the content place holder in the master page then u are not able to do any thing dynamically. suppose u want to display the content in the grid in the page.aspx, in which u are included the master page, then in this scenario it is necessary to put content place holder in master page and first tag in the page . u can put the content place holder with in the table in the master page. and tables with in the in the page.aspx Happy Coding!!

I got sorted the problem. There is one more problem with Master Page. I have some questions? Is there compolosory for master page to have contentplace holder. when i put gridview in contentplace holder. in some content pages the gridview bind small data. then the total will not be captured. Can there is option that i put the contentplace holder in table or table in contentplace holder?

Hi, I think u have written the dropdown bind method in the pageload, so whenever page postback it binds the dropdown. Check the dropdown bind method and write it inside the !ispostback under the Page_Load. and if u don't want to postback your page, when u select any item of the dropdown. simply false the AutoPostBack property of the dropdown.
