EventHandler for programmetically created control.

Question

Hii Members,

I am working on an application using C# WinApp. I have created a form and there is a button on the form named 'Show Bill List' in this button's click event, I have created some controls programmetically (dynamically) like, DataGridView (to show the records), Button (to close the DGV), DateTimePicker (to choose data between the dates) in a GroupBox. some of the codes...

when clicked on the button, the message box appears. but I want to write code for do some act. e.g. choosing data between two dates and see the data in the DGV. but I can not see any of the controls that I have created, in event handler.

Please show me where I am mistaking... I have searched on net but everywhere is the same answer. I have also check, https://www.c-sharpcorner.com/uploadfile/mahesh/creating-a-button-at-run-time-in-C-Sharp/

but nothing.

For : I can not see any of the controls that I have created, in event handler. You can find all controls which you have created dynamically. private void btnListClose_Click (object sender, EventArgs e) { GroupBox groupBox = this .Controls.Find( " gbBillList " , true ).First() as GroupBox ; } Here gbBillList is the name of GroupBox that you have created dynamically. You may try it, it will work.

Your btnBillList_Click code is is working good. Dynamically, you are putting your form DataGridView control on a GroupBox and your are adding a button to close the list. You may try this code instead of showing message in message box. void btnListClose_Click( object sender, EventArgs e) { int rowIndex = this .dgvBillList.Rows.Add(); var row = this .dgvBillList.Rows[rowIndex]; row.Cells[ "Id" ].Value = "1" ; row.Cells[ "UserName" ].Value = "Mayan" ; }

Hii Praveen & Amit, thank you for your code. I have learnt something new today and I'll definetly use it. meanwhile, I have done my code by creating all the controls 'manually' and write it as the group box got hide while the form load and show when the button click event fires of 'Show Bill List' there is also button 'Close List' button to hide these group box and controls. this is, I felt, much easier. I was trying to do the same thing by another way thinking that, can it be done this way or not? Thanks both of you. Keep helping :) Mayank

// this is global variable var gpbox = new GroupBox (); private void btn_Click(...) { gpbox.Add(....) // Add ur controls something like this } Actually, as per the current scenario, I believe that there is no need to add the controls dynamically, you can design your form as in the way it was designed. Visit the link that I had posted, that link will give you the scenario to find the controls and you will get your desired output.

Hii Amit, I really do not understand. your first point, controls.find(), but how to make the functionality work? and how to make controls globally? I can not call the controls where I needed. I simply want to do is... 1. on a button (Bill List) click event I have created some controls like datetimepicker, buttons, datagridview etc. to see some data based on two dates range. so, when I click the button Bill List. I get all the controls appear in a GroupBox named gbBillList. 2. there is a (programmatically created) button (Close List) which I want to, when clicked, close the entire gbBillList with all controls. I have created the event handler for the same. 3. I do not find the gbBillList in the event handler of button Close List. or I do not find any other controls in event handler. so, it's my request that please show me some simple way to do this or share a like that shows the mathod how to do this. Please write back if you want any additional information or my points may make you confuse.. Thanks Mayank

Hey In a fast moving technology, why you are making your work harder. Anyway, the problem with your code has 2 solutions 1. You can make your controls globally and access throughout the class 2. Controls.Find (...) function used to find the controls that you had created dynamically. Hii Praveen, thank you for your reply... but it's not working for me. the click event is working for the message box only but I want to add some functionality to other controls like there are datetime picker to choose dates from records from database, then button to write code to fetch the data from dt and show in a gridview. my problem is, if I create the click event properly, why I do not find the GroupBox Control in the list at the function()? please, see the attached screen shot.
