Entity Framework 5.0, can't update database

Question

After executing the command dotnet ef add migration <name of migration> and executing update database (tried with dotnet ef update database as well) and I got this error: No project was found. Change the current working directory or use the --project option.
I am working on the Package Manager Console.

You can follow the suggestions from Mr Sachin. In general, rfw things need to check. 1. Default project in Package Manager console. Project should be the one that contains DBContext Class. 2. Set-up web(UI or WebApi) project as startup 2. Check packages Like for SQLServer Add this packages in your DBContext containing project. Also add Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.Design in your web project. Keep version of EF based on your one.

This is the most common error and the solution is to close the visual studio and restart.

update-database : The term 'update-database' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

I got the same issue when I tried to do the migration. The project is changed to the right one. I wonder if its because of not correctly written command. And I can not seem to see the db in the SQL server.

Its saying you are not on the right project. EF commands will only work for the project where you have defined your DbContext class. Make sure from the package manager console dropdown you have selected the right project. also make sure is EF is installed.
