In this process the model learns patterns features and relationships within the data to make predictions or classifications. It involves initializing the model's parameters and updating them through multiple iterations (epochs) until the model performs well on the training data. Transfer Learning  on the other hand is a technique where a pre-trained model (usually trained on a large dataset) is adapted to a new but often related task. Instead of starting from scratch you take the knowledge the model has already learned and fine-tune it for your specific application.
