Detect Network Connection w/regular WinForms App

This seems like there would be a simple test using the system.net library, but I can't figure it out and googling has turned up mostly results for compact devices.  Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this?  All I want to do is simply test to see if I can connect to the network (not internet). 


BTW this is .net 1.1.
